





Bohol descubre un enigmático encanto dibujado desde los muchos momentos arcaicos
extendidos por la isla oval; desde las colinas de chocolate hasta los miradores del siglo 16,
los Tarsier y las iglesias de los misioneros jesuitas. Las 1.268 colinas de chocolate, con
perfecta forma de cono son sin duda la atracción turística mas famosa de la provincia,
formadas hace siglos cuando esta isla estaba sumergida en el mar y formaba pináculos de
coral. Entre estas colinas, se encuentran dos convertidas en resorts de primera clase.
Uno de los animales exóticos inusuales que se encuentra en estas islas es el Tarsier, el
primate más pequeño del mundo. Es un primate nocturno de unos 10-15 cm, con una cola
mas larga que su propio cuerpo.
Un paraíso tropical de belleza natural, la costa de esta provincia está compuesta de plácidas
cuevas y playas de arena blanca, que forman unos de los mejores lugares para la práctica
del submarinismo, como Balicasag, un bosque de corales negros o Cabilao, famoso por sus
tiburones martillo. Grandes pelágicos son comunes en esta agua y con suerte te
encontrarás nadando entre delfines.
Bohol está a unos 700 Km al sur de Manila y a unos 70 Km al sureste de Mactan (Cebu) y
cuenta con una población de 1,2 millones de habitantes, su ciudad principal con aeropuerto
es Tagbilaran.
Es sin duda uno de los destinos de Buceo mas preciados formando un panorama repleto de
jardines coralinos con abundante vida marina. Los sitios de buceo se caracterizan por sus
pronunciadas paredes hasta gran profundidad y sus cuevas.
En el sur se encuentra la isla de coralina de Panglao, conectada por dos puentes a Bohol;
uno de los lugares mas bellos de la zona. Con espectaculares playas de arena blanca y
rodeada de corales visibles desde la playa, lo cual la convierte un lugar ideal para los
amantes del snorkel. En sus alrededores se pueden observar a diario ballenas, delfines,
tiburones de arrecife, atunes, meros y en ocasiones tiburones ballena. Es un lugar de paso
para las corrientes marinas de norte a sur del archipiélago, lo cual favorece la abundancia
de vida marina.
Otras islas de la zona que ofrecen estupendos parajes submarinos son Balicasag, famosa
por los jardines de coral negro que se encuentran en su santuario marino de 400 metros y
lugar donde también se pueden ver tiburones martillo y napoleones; Pamilacan, que significa
lugar de descanso de las mantas raya donde se realizan excursiones para observar las
ballenas y lugar donde se pueden encontrar las preciadas Gloria Maris y la isla de Cabilao
donde también se pueden ver tiburones martillo.
Bohol Dive Sites
BALICASAG BLACK FOREST:
It is called black forest due to its abundance of black corals. Swimming through the branches
of these corals is quite an enjoyable experience. The drop off falls down slowly after 12
meters from the surface until 40 meters (sandy bottom). There are also many soft and hard
corals as well as special butterfly fishes (Heniochus acuminatus).
BALICASAG FISH SANCTUARY:
This is a protected marine site considered as the breeding place for the "bonitas" (jack fish).
Most of the time, there are about thousands swimming together. Balicasag Island is one of
the best-known diving locations in the Visayans together with Palawan in the Philippines. The
wall goes down directly to about 45 meters and then it slopes to 80 meters or more. There
are many small caves between 10 and 30 meters with soft and hard corals. Varieties of small
tropical fishes are abundant.
BALICASAG DIVER'S HEAVEN:
The reef starts off at about 5 meters. The bottom composition is mainly sand, hard corals,
and going to the ledge of the reef (8 meters), many nice soft corals are seen.
BALICASAG RUDY'S ROCK:
Wall (5 - 40m), Sanctuary, School of Barracudas, School of Jack fish, Big variety of soft and
hard corals. Many different coral fish. Good for snorkeling.
SNAKE ISLAND:
Also called Cervera shoal, under water island (12 - 40m), Sea Snakes, Garden Eels, etc
CABILAO ISLAND:
Cabilao Island used to be known for the hammerhead sharks specially when the temperature
of the water is colder (December and January). The wall is very nice with many gorgones,
sea-fans hard corals, etc. Barracudas, butterfly fishes, bonitas, and other tropical fishes are
also abundant. The wall goes down to more than 50 meters, and on one place it start only at
30 meters deep.
PAMILACAN ISLAND:
Gradually descending reef slope (10 - 40m), Barracuda, Trigger fish, Mackerel, Tunas,
Napoleon, Nudi Branch, Sea Slug, Garden Eel, Giant Potato Cod, etc.
DOLJO POINT:
Gradually descending reef slope and a very nice wall with several different kinds of Sea
Fans. Barracudas, many coral fish and from Jan / Feb / March there is a big possibility to see
Hammerheads.
PUNTOD ISLAND:
(4-40m) The reef topography has nice formations of rocks with hard and soft corals and
sandy bottom. A lot of different coral fish around and perfect for snorkeling.
KALIPAYAN 1:
Wall (3 - 18m), Bat Fish, Sea Snake, Moray Eel, Ghost Pipefish, Sea Horse, etc. Travel time:
5 min
KALIPAYAN 2:
Long slope (5 - 30m), Eagle Ray, Sea Snake, Frog Fish, etc. Travel Time: 10 min Cod, etc.
HOUSE REEF:
Sloop / Wall (4 - 20m), Sand eel, Lionfish, Giant barracuda, Scorpion fish, etc. Very nice hard
and soft coral formations.
HABAGAT WRECK:
(35m) The best is to start the dive at the wreck and move towards the wall. To see: Batfish,
big Lion Fish, giant Angler Fish and many different kinds of Cardinal Fishes.
APO ISLAND:
Together with other small islands located south of Negros Province, Apo Island is as beautiful
in the surface as it is underwater. The government has taken steps in preserving the beauty
of this island by declaring it as a marine sanctuary. Among the life forms divers expect to see,
are school of jacks, different species of pelagic fishes, giant clams, and formations of
magnificent hard corals.
SUMILON ISLAND:
Situated in the south of Cebu, Sumilon is a small island surrounded by a white sand beach.
The dive starts in 5 meters of water, until the end of the drop off around 18-22 meters deep.
Numerous table corals and fishes (clown fish with sea anemone) can be found in between 8-
18 meters. Sea turtles could be occasionally seen in the site.
CERVERA SHOAL
This site is 15 minutes ride by banca from Pamilacan Island, this area has an abundance of
corals and is famous for its sea snakes and different colors of frog fish.
Siquijor Dive Sites
TUBOD SANCTUARY
This protected area is just in front of the Dive Center and is having the best corals of the
entire island, over 173 different kinds of hard corral are found here. This diversified place
you can dive in different depths between 5m and 20m. The shallow part are some shallow
walls and the deeper part is a hard coral slope. There you can see a large school of blue
spine unicorn fish, parrot fish, nudibranches of many colors, razor fish, clown fish, some big
groupers and sometimes a sea turtle and over 15 giant clams. This place is also excellent for
snorkeling.
MAITE POINT
This dive is very good for a sunset dive. The maximum depth is with 15m quite shallow and
the dive spot is a highlight for macro photographer and the famous Mandarin fish. It's the
home of more small fishes like the famous mandarin fish and nudibranches, Pipe fish, ribbon
eel, Pegasus, Baracuda and the Spanish dancer. If you do a night dive there you will see
additional marine life like cuttlefish, octopus and big sea Slugs.
TAGOT SHOAL, SUNKEN ISLAND
This dive site is not even on the nautical charts but you will see lots of fish there. It's 10 min.
north-west of the dive center and the flat top of the shoal is at 12 meters deep and slopes
down to 25 / 35 meters, if planned well you can make two spirals around it and see
everything there. You can see big schools of Big mouth mackerels, Fusiliers, Anthias fishes
and Damsels. Hunting Tunas in the middle of clouds of anchovies. Sometimes large
barracudas, Eagle ray, sea snakes and turtles.
SAWANG
This shallow dive is also good for beginners because of the maximum depth of 18m and the
nice variety of corals and bottom composition. There are many big coral blocks you feel like
diving in a canyon and a small tunnel is also there where you can dive through. There are
many small fishes like; different kinds of clown fishes, Jaw fish, Scorpion fishes and
sometimes also mandarin fishes and Sea Turtle.
PALITON WALL
This spectacular wall goes down to 36 meters with in the beginning at 30 meters a
spectacular cathedral with Black corals and Lion fishes. Along the wall are nudibranches,
flatworms, eels, scorpion fish, Golden sergeants, Fusiliers and Big mouth Mackerels. Quite
often you can find at the reef edge Blue ribbon eels, Clown Angler fish and fire gobies.
These are only some of the most exciting dive sites around Siquijor Island- there are many
more great dives spots around Siquijor, in total 23.
The diving fee’s in the San Juan district is 100 pesos (1.65 euro) per day per diver.
Dumaguete (Dauin) Dive Sites
PURA VIDA HOUSEREEF
The house reef is located just in front of the resort, ideal for shore dives. The sandy bottom
slopes down from one to twenty meters and there is also a 12m long steel boat wreck. There
is a large variety of rare species on the reef. An ideal place for training, excellent fun for
night-dives and macro photography.
MASAPLOD
A beautiful marine sanctuary which can be reached by our boat in ten minutes. You can see
big fish schools, huge snappers and sweetlips, stingrays and different kind of scorpion fishes.
Usually you will also meet a huge turtle.
DAUIN
Just around the corner we have a spot for something special! Seahorses, ghost pipe fishes,
frog fishes, different kind of lion and scorpion fishes and nudi branches are very common.
And the place we call eel garden is also unique. Excellent place for training and night
dives.
APO ISLAND
We can reach this highlight of the Visayas in half an hour by boat. Spectacular and colourful
drift dives with big fish schools, turtles, sea snakes and barracudas. Beautiful coral gardens
with a large variety of coral fishes. We are sure that one of the ten first class dive spot will
soon become your favourite.
CLOWN FISH CITY
The famous Clown Fish City is located in the Sanctuary of Apo Island . In the shallow part of
this dive site there are some coral blocks covered with sea anemones and hundreds of clown
fishes. If you are lucky you will meet also Napoleon fishes and a school of jack fishes.
These are only some of the most important dive sites - there are many more very interesting
dive spots around Dumaguete.
